No Kings March 2, Oct 18

No Kings March 2, Oct 18

Are you angry, concerned about the fate of democracy, worried about paying health care premiums, wondering who ICE will come after, etc?  Wondering what you can do to get your concerns heard?  Read on.

The League of Women Voters of the United States has joined with No Kings 2 as a national partner to stand up and to declare that America has no kings.  Well, what exactly is No Kings 2?  Here’s the information you need, straight from the No Kings website:

“NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan; it is the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, shouted by millions, carried on posters and chants, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.

Because this country does not belong to kings, dictators, or tyrants. It belongs to We the People – the people who care, who show up, and the ones who fight for dignity, a life we can afford, and real opportunity. No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.

Here’s how you can put your concerns into action and to show up for democracy.  ALL League of Women Voters of Lane County, family, and friends are invited to join the No Kings 2 protest on Saturday, October 18, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Wayne Lyman Morse United States Courthouse, Eugene, OR 97401.

You can make your own posters or borrow LWVLC posters or help hold the “Marching in Their Footsteps” banner.  To get a poster (or button or red immigration card or other LWV material) meet Patty Sandoz, LWVLC member, in the very large parking lot bounded by High Street, 7th and 8th Avenues, and Pearl Street. She can be identified by curly hair standing by a red car decorated with bumper stickers promoting democracy, human rights, women’s rights, and love for all humans.
