2016 Governor Candidates Debate

The League of Women Voters of Lane County (LWVLC) and Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB)’s daily radio program Think Out Loud will co-host a debate among candidates for Oregon governor on Thursday, October 6, at Churchill High School in Eugene. The event begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Think Out Loud host David Miller will moderate the debate among the three candidates.

Republican party candidate Bud Pierce’s campaign website states his support for smaller government, decreased state spending, increased funding for transportation infrastructure, and a compromising approach to marrying the Affordable Care Act with Oregon’s existing Medicaid programs.

Independent Party Cliff Thomason’s website said in his campaign announcement in 2015 that he would focus on “local control, green jobs and common sense policies for Oregon.”[ The website also features prominently a ballot measure that would give counties direct control over lottery revenue from county residents, a measure on which he is the chief petitioner.
